There are some original documents that you still need to keep. This smaller fireproof boxhas been plenty big enough to hold all of our precious files, extra hard drives, etc. It scans both sides of a document at the same time which is a HUGE time saver in and of itself.
Step 3 – How to scan your documents using your smartphone
And the best move is to get desktop scanners and put them on everyone’s desk. So, it doesn’t make sense to have one central scanning resource, either. For suggestions, or better yet a complete playbook on how to name your files and structure folders, a guide created by paperless lawyer Andrew Kucera can help you.

That happened and we noticed that the paper address books were suddenly important, and having paper copies, since the computers no longer had power. Anyway, we live in FL, and it’s good to have many copies of everything, one in the computer, and one in the house, etc. I’ve tried to scale down the photos, not needed two copies, if one is scanned in. Make piles of ‘important’ and ‘flyers and other useless junk’ so you don’t need to bring the rubbish with you. If it’s worth it, then scan it, then chuck it .
We had a computer crash and some data not retrievable years ago so back up has become top of mind. We would love to know how you have managed the automatic backing up every few hours. And even though it took a good deal of work, knowing that we have our paper under control is liberating.

If you’re a competitive company, it’s likely that you already have a great many paperless processes in place simply because the technology makes sense for your business. But when August hits and business slows, take advantage of the downtime to really make a dent in your scanning backlog. One of the biggest forms of waste in a law firm is sending out paperless bills and waiting for checks. This onerous process requires many people-hours, is a slow way to collect revenue, and is out of step with how many modern clients want to pay. Whether it’s your annual Christmas card, or an invitation to a Fourth of July party, creating digital greetings and invitations will save you time, money and paper.
It improves office organization and reduces clutter. Moving to paperless solutions will allow you to get rid of files that take up valuable space and cost money. It also means that there will be less clutter throughout the office. One big benefit to going paperless at home is that it will help you eliminate needless clutter and better organize your house.
For important documents, mitigate your risks by saving them in at least two places. You may also want to save them on an external hard drive. It will be challenging in the beginning but adopting these habits is the first step to go paperless at home or at work in 2018. Step-by-step the paper clutter will become less and you pave the way for a more relaxed and organised life.
